Benefits of Fasting
I find that we have to work for health and that we will have to make it a priority, but the promise is there. When people seek colon hydrotherapy and fasting consultations, they have the distinct opportunity to be able to see that cleansing the body has the promise of adding years onto their lives.
Of course, it isn’t a scientific study that we are conducting, but when clients see black “ropes” come out of their colon during the course of a fast, they can’t help but realise that having all of that goop in their bodies must be an important factor in ageing. I find that being part of an individual’s perception that he or she has just done something that will increase lifespan is quite moving.
Fasting is Easy
One of my clients teaches physical education and adult spinning classes. She continued to do these activities during her six-day fast. Hunger often disappears after a day or two. What impresses me over and over again with my clients is how cleansing their bodies changes their lives, sparks new energies, and ignites old passions.
People feel more powerful, more in charge of themselves. A toxic body leaves us feeling drained and not in control of our lives. Internal cleansing is about a lifestyle, and an attitude of living and caring for ourselves that increases our energies.

The Fasting Process
Keep your diary as clear as possible and only do as much as you have to, remembering a certain amount of activity keeps your mind off food. Keeping out of the shops and away from social events involving food removes temptation from your path.
- Cut out all coffee, tea, sugar and other stimulants, these are all false sources of energy so don’t be surprised if you feel exhausted. There may well be a headache to accompany the caffeine deprivation – Sleep if possible and drink plenty of water – this will pass.
- It would be good to cut out all forms of animal protein – Red meat, chicken, fish and even eggs and milk – from two to three days prior to the fast.
- Drink 1.5 – 2 litre of water per day. Herbal teas or rooibos are also good to take. Although water is the primary cleansing agent in therapeutic fasting, various other supplements will be used to accelerate blood purification and tissue detox, and promote rapid healing during the course of the fast.
